Pea soup

Based off recipe here:

1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/8 cup oil
Salt, black pepper, and turmeric, to taste. Also oregano if you feel like it (I didn’t)
1 reasonable size sweet potato
500 g dried split green peas
8 cups water

Sautee onion and garlic and spices in oil until onion translucent
Add all other ingredients
Cook for at least an hour and a half, till peas have “burst”
Add water as needed and stir, to prevent bottom from burning.

Notes: the original recipe calls for a potato. Based on the time I used a potato, I highly recommend skipping it.

You can replace part or all of the water with stock.
